17 Best Cameras for Travel Blogging and Vlogging
Best Mirrorless Cameras for Travel Blogging
Mirrorless cameras are becoming increasingly popular among travel bloggers, and I think they are the best kind of cameras travel bloggers can invest in. These cameras offer comparable image quality to DSLRs while being smaller, lighter, and more compact, making them an ideal choice for travel photography.
Despite their smaller form factor, mirrorless cameras boast large sensors and advanced autofocus systems, ensuring sharp and detailed images even in challenging shooting conditions. So you get the high quality and size benefits, all in one camera.
Plus, with mirrorless cameras, you can grow your kit to include interchangeable lenses. As travel bloggers, it’s key to be able to capture multiple different situations. With different lenses, you can go from landscapes to portraits in a matter of moments.
However, mirrorless cameras may not be for every travel blogger, particularly those with limited budgets or specific requirements. While mirrorless cameras offer numerous advantages, they may be more expensive than entry-level DSLRs, and the cost of lenses and accessories can add up quickly.
But if you do have the budget or are looking to make a long-term investment in your travel photography, mirrorless is the way to go.

Best DSLR Cameras for Travel Bloggers
DSLRs have long been the favourite cameras for beginner and professional photographers. These cameras offer an extensive range of features, customisable settings, and interchangeable lenses, allowing bloggers to adapt to various shooting conditions and creative preferences.
As travel bloggers, the best thing about DSLR cameras is their ability to change lenses. This gives you the flexibility to choose the perfect lens for different situations you come across as a travel blogger. From wide-angle lenses for landscapes and telephoto lenses for distant subjects.
The thing to consider with these cameras for travel blogging is that they can be pretty heavy. This can make them less practical for travel situations where space and weight are limited.
So, if you’re buying a travel camera to be used at home (where weight won’t be such a problem) as well as whilst travelling, a DSLR might just be the one for you.
Plus, to get the most out of your DSLR, it can be a steep learning curve to master the manual settings. But if you’re willing to put some time into it, it doesn’t take too long to understand the basics.
![Nikon D5300 DSLR Entry Level Camera](https://offtogetlost.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nikon-d5600.png)
8. Nikon D5300
Rating | 4.8
The Nikon D5600 is an excellent camera for beginner travel bloggers due to its user-friendly interface, compact size, and impressive image quality for the price. As an entry-level DSLR, you can try out travel photography without much of an investment.
Whilst the Nikon D5300 won’t give you the best shoot speed and the cropped sensor is a bit of a drawback, it has everything else you need to start capturing high-quality photos of your travel.
In fact, a Nikon entry-level camera was what I started with. It allowed me to learn all the ins and outs of shooting manual, composition, and lighting. Basically, all the key skills you need, no matter what camera you have.

![Canon 6D Mark II DSLR camera](https://offtogetlost.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Canon-6D-Mark-II.jpg)
9. Canon 6D Mark II
Rating | 4.5
The Canon 6D Mark II is a popular camera for travel bloggers, it’s loved by many professional photographers too. With its full-frame sensor, the 6D Mark II delivers high-resolution images with excellent low-light performance, ideal for capturing stunning landscapes, portraits, and travel scenes.
It’s a very impressive piece of kit, and you know you are investing in your future as a photographer when you purchase this camera.
However, despite the amazing quality of this camera, there is one major drawback when specifically considering cameras for travel bloggers: the weight. As the heaviest camera on this list, it is already over 750g with just the body. It’s a pretty bulky and heavy item to be lugging around the world.
But if you have the space and your priority is producing the highest quality images possible, the 6D Mark II is worth having in your consideration.

Best Compact Cameras for Travel Bloggers
If you’re the type of travel blogger who wants to get high-quality images but doesn’t want to hassle of changing lenses or learning the ins and outs of how cameras work, these compact point-and-shoot travel cameras are for you.
These cameras are for travel bloggers who love simplicity and ease of use. The point-and-shoot cameras makes them accessible to photographers of all skill levels, making them an ideal choice for travel bloggers who prioritize ease of use and convenience
Plus, all these cameras are small and lightweight, making them perfect for capturing spontaneous moments during travel without the hassle of carrying bulky equipment. Their compact size allows bloggers to slip them into a pocket or bag, ensuring they’re always ready to capture memorable experiences wherever they go.
However, if you require more advanced features or desire greater control over their photography, they’re not the ones for you. While they excel at capturing everyday moments and casual snapshots, they may struggle in low-light conditions or when shooting fast-moving subjects.
Additionally, their smaller sensors may not deliver the same level of image quality or dynamic range as larger cameras, limiting their ability to produce professional-grade imagery. And their lack of ability to change lenses will reduce the versatility of the camera.

Understanding Your Travel Camera Needs
When thinking about what camera to buy for your travels, there’s a lot to consider. It’s often not as simple as buying the best kit out there. Does it suit your travel style? If you only travel with a carry-on, is a bulky DSLR the best for you? Or if photography isn’t your top priority, a good quality point and shop is probably enough for you to get what you need.
Here are 4 things to bear in mind when deciding which travel camera to buy:
1. Portability vs. Performance
Take a moment to think about the balance between portability and performance. What kind of photography aligns with your travel style? Are you constantly on the move, requiring a lightweight and compact camera that won’t weigh you down? Or do you prioritize image quality and versatility, willing to sacrifice some convenience for superior performance?
2. Versatility
Think about the types of content you aim to create during your travels. Will you primarily focus on still photography, capturing breathtaking landscapes and vibrant street scenes? Or do you envision immersive vlogs that invite viewers to experience your adventures firsthand? Understanding your content goals will help narrow down the features that are essential for your camera choice.
3. What are you shooting?
Take into account the environments and conditions in which you’ll be shooting. Are you planning to embark on rugged outdoor adventures that demand a durable and weather-sealed camera? Or will you be exploring urban landscapes where compactness and discretion are key?
4. Budget
Determine your budget range early on to ensure that you’re investing in a camera that not only meets your needs but also aligns with your financial constraints. Remember that while cutting-edge features can enhance your creative capabilities, there are often more affordable options that deliver impressive results for budget-conscious travellers. You can always reinvest in the future as your passion for photography grows.
