5. House of Trembling Madness
A unique pub with an equally unique name, the House of Trembling Madness is housed in a medieval building dating back to 1180. Whilst I could probably do without the taxidermy, I still do love the atmosphere.
They serve delicious goods from traditional pub foods such as sausage and mash. However, you have to try one of their platters. These platters are like mini banquets, served on large slabs of wood covered in different cheeses and meats.
Be aware that there are two Houses of Trembling Madness in York. Known as the big and little one, the little one has the most character and intrigue. However, as it is smaller, it can get very busy during peak season and on the weekends. If that is the case, the large one is also a great option for good beer and a relaxed atmosphere.

One of the best things about visiting Brew York is their partner with Yuzu. A local Asian-fusian restaurant that serves the most incredible loaded fries and bao buns. They are quite hot so make sure to have plenty of water (or beer!) to hand.

As a speed quiz, it can get very intese but the free chips and vibrant atmospher mean you always have a great laugh. Be aware that do have to arrive a few hours before the start of the quiz to make sure you get a seat. The place fills up pretty fast!
